About the Club

There has been a Folk Club at The Pump House since 1973.  The present club was founded in 2008 and is a run by a committee and willing volunteers, all of whom are passionate about Folk Music.

The Watford Folk Club has an enviable reputation for the quality and the quantity of its floor singers/players and for headlining new and established Folk performers.

There is a real ale bar, great acoustics and a friendly welcome every week.

Admission
Due to a change in requirements there is no longer a box office or tickets for our events.  We will be accepting donations on the door and we will let you know on our Events page what the suggested minimum donation should be to enable us to cover the costs of putting on the event and to help us continue providing events in the future.

Events

We hold  Guest Nights, Sing-arounds, Spotlight sing-arounds and an annual Folk Song Contest.

  • A Guest Night features a professional or semi-professional Folk/Acoustic performer playing two 40 minute set.
A number of Floor Spots are available too on a first come basis.
  • At a Sing-around anyone can sing a song or play a piece. People also come to the club just to listen to the high-quality music; you don’t have to perform!
  • A Spotlight evening is a sing-around with two 20 minute sets featuring local supporters of the club.
  • Our annual Folk Song Contest is your opportunity to write a new folk song.
