Steve Warner is a Hertfordshire-based folk and acoustic singer-songwriter and storyteller, who performs his self-penned songs on a tenor guitar. His ‘Can I Get There By Car’ tour, saw him bring his fresh and heartfelt songwriting to new audiences across the UK, from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland to the Kent countryside.

After playing bass guitar in 90s rock bands, Steve discovered folk music later in life and immediately felt at home within the community. The storytelling, songwriting, energy, and passion of fellow musicians playing together lit a spark that has never left him.

Steve slowly developed his songwriting skills and learned how to play in front of a crowd, who rarely listened but always clapped politely. Eventually, the gigs got bigger, and the crowds were less rowdy, at venues and festivals such as Cambridge Folk Club, Hitchin Folk Club, Ely Folk Festival, and The Great British Folk Festival.

He loves writing and performing on a Tenor guitar (4 strings but not a Uke) and has written several EP’s of original music on this instrument which was made famous in the 1920’s America and played in banjo bands . His music has been played across various BBC radio stations and a host of internet-based international stations, and he was shortlisted for the Folks and Roots International Songwriting Contest two years in a row.

Julie Simpson is a Scottish, Hitchin -based musician who is new to the world of folk and songwriting. A singer songwriter, guitarist and fiddle player playing solo and in a number of folk, traditional and pub bands and a finalist for the Watford song contest 2025; inspired by artists like Lau, Elizabeth & Jameson, Simon and Garfunkel, and Kate Bush, she blends heartfelt lyrics with beautiful melodies.

She has played in events from Todd in the Hole and Tottenham Stadium to local venues around Hitchin and also performs in a ceilidh band with her neighbours, exploring traditional Welsh, and Scottish folk tunes and is a very intuitive and sympathetic fiddle player.

“Steve tells great stories through his songs and captures the audience with his engaging delivery”
