This week’s guests are Linde Nijland & Bert Ridderbos
April 26th

We are really looking forward to welcoming back Linde and Bert, they played for us on 2nd June last year and many people asked when they would be back. Now you know.

Recommended minimum donation – £12.50 (Cash or Card)

Linde is often called ‘best folk singer of the Netherlands’ (Heaven magazine). In the UK she’s perhaps best known for her sincere renditions of Sandy Denny’s song material. Her album “Sings Sandy Denny” was well received. Joe Boyd (producer of Nick Drake, Fairport Convention etc.) said “Linde Nijland has given Sandy Denny’s music the respect it deserves and has made a lovely and fresh record that shows off her beautiful voice as well as her good taste”. In 2009 he invited her to sing as part of an All-Star Fairport reunion concert in the Barbican Hall (together with Richard Thompson). She has also sung with Fairport Convention on other occasions and was interviewed for the Bob Harris radio documentary “Who Knows Where the Time Goes” for BBC2.

Linde has been performing and recording for many years with multi-instrumentalist Bert Ridderbos (“Seemingly a one-man orchestra” fRoots) on guitars, cittern, accordion, banjo and dobro. They also made a musical friendship journey over land to Bhutan (through Balkan and eastern countries, like Serbia, Iran, India). More recently Linde’s brand-new album ‘Ten Years’ – with mostly self-penned songs – was released and nominated for the esteemed German award ‘Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik’.
Live, Linde and Bert create a unique atmosphere. They perform Linde’s own songs, as well as Sandy Denny songs and traditional material. A capella songs are mixed with ballads, instrumental tunes and up-tempo sing-alongs.

It will be an evening not to be missed!!!
